Reg taught me to play guitar like he played. As a young musician I followed him around to the many places he played with the Compromise.
One day, he let me get up and take the lead in his band. He sat back in the audience like a proud coach letting his student shine. A very great memory created by a very smart, talented man.
I played for forty years in this town and often looked for him. Sadly today I found his obituary. That said it was a wonderful tribute and has given me some closure.
With great admiration and respect to the family,
Bob Westhaver (friend and student)

Sorry to hear of the passing of Reg. Saw him perform many times over the years, especially during his time with Kenny Weeks and The Meteors. They sure played at a lot of venues. Always remember Reg's guitar playing....could he ever make that big old guitar sound great.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Reg. I had the great pleasure of playing trombone and singing with Reg for many years. One of my best memories was going to California with Reg and the band; meeting and playing for Clint Eastwood. Sending love and prayers to the family.

I was one of Reg's guitar students on Portland St in 1973/74. For my ninth birthday I was given a guitar and lessons. "Mr. Fisher" was a wonderful teacher, so calm, patient, encouraging and honest. It became apparent that I was perhaps too young to begin lessons and Mr. Fisher told my mom after my first year that because I was not practising enough, it would be best to wait until I was a little older and try again. A handful of years later, I did just that with more discipline as a teen.
When we moved from Dartmouth my lessons stopped but what a solid foundation I had from Mr. Fisher. I stayed with guitar playing my entire life, thanks to Mr. Fisher.
I often thought about him, especially when I taught adult guitar for Halifax City Department of Recreation in my university days.
So while I was sad to read of his passing, I wanted his family and friends to know there are likely endless folks just like me who valued him and keep him in our hearts.
I leave you with these words in your time fo grief.
“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”

Very sorry to hear of Reg’s passing. I was honoured to be the sax player with Compromise and the Meteors from 1984 until about 2008. Reg was always a great guy who always had a kind word for everyone. Lots of jokes too, along with his buddy Kenny Weeks. Reg was a veteran performer who handled the guitar duties with style and technique. He was a fine singer, especially on his interpretations of Elvis and Roy Orbison. The band had a loyal following that they started building in the early sixties back in the Peppermint Lounge days. They stuck with Kenny and Reg for decades. That was impressive.
Reg’s later years were golden for him because the band was cooking right along and he met and married Caroline Barron. She made him so happy.
Rest in Piece, Reg. Remember: Just a Giggilo is in A flat, not A.

RIP dear friend!
It’s been some time for sure but I have found memories of all the nights at clubs dancing to the bands 50,60’s etc era music. Sure made that guitar talk.
Got the lyrics mixed up a few times which somehow made it even better.
Great time in Florida too, glad you were there to show the places to go like the “Elvis Presley “ museum in Orlando.
Keep on ROCKING- I know you be with Kenny and you two doing your Stan and Ollie bit. LOL
