Obituary of Isabelle Anne Harris

Please share a memory of Isabelle to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Isabelle Anne (Leck) Harris, it is with heavy hearts we announce the death of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother who died on March 17, 2024 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Isabelle was born on November 20, 1932, the youngest daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude Leck of Dartmouth.

Isabelle married her high school sweetheart, Jim Harris in 1955.  They lived a wonderful life in Dartmouth, fortunate to have three children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all who brought them much pride and joy.  They spent many summers at “camp” on the North Shore, where everyone would gather.  Some of her happiest times were watching generations of their family enjoy the beach and one another’s company.

Isabelle was a lifelong member of the United Church of Canada.  She enjoyed badminton and golfing.  After retirement Isabelle and Jim travelled extensively exploring the world together.

Isabelle was married to the late Frank James Harris “Jim” and is survived by her children, Judy (Charles) Kwan, Dartmouth; Bob (Heather) Harris, Tatamagouche; and Dave (Ena) Harris, Amherst. She will be sorely missed by her grandchildren, Lindsay (Richard) Smith, Michael (Gillian) Harris, Gillian (Luke) Crocker, Meagan (Arthur) Osipenko, Alyson (Alexander) Hale, Mark (Alyson) Harris; 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Frances Coates. Mom will also be fondly remembered by a number of nieces and nephews.

Isabelle was predeceased by grandson, Joshua; daughter-in-law, Debbie; and sister, Pauline Harrison.

We would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Lois MacGibbon, the staff of Parkland at the Lakes and the Dartmouth General Hospital staff for their care and guidance during the final days of our mother’s life.

In keeping with Isabelle’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A memorial service for immediate family will take place at a later time. Donations may be made to Port Wallis United Church, Dartmouth. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
