Obituary of David Mark Sweeney

David Mark Sweeney, age 72 of Dartmouth, passed away suddenly at home on January 6, 2024. He was born July 18, 1951 in Halifax to the late Hugh Sweeney and Audrey MacGregor (Barnett).
In his younger years, David was a football player, a great hockey player, top tier rower with North Star Rowing Club winning many medals and awards, and a street scrapper. He was a pool shark, an excellent fly tyer and a world class fly fisherman. He was wise beyond his years, strong as an ox and had the heart of a bull. His son Adam will forever miss their weekly yarns.
David worked as a Stationery Engineer for Johnson & Johnson Controls for many years, Building Engineer for Spring Garden Place, Halifax and lastly as a Building Operator for Dept. of Public Works at Central Services Bldg., Halifax.
He will be deeply missed by his son Adam and cat Lucky.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Clive. Survived by son Adam, Victoria, BC; estranged spouse, Valerie, Bear River; nephew, Jason; and niece Sarah.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Bide Awhile Animal Shelter, Dartmouth, NS. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS.
