My father Mozes Laufer was a brother of Sruel Laufer. Actualy Mozes was an oncle to Emanuel.
I met Sruel (Tulio) in Israel once in 1974, when all Laufer brothers and sister Lotte Schlomiuk came together .

Dear Jeffrey,Susan and Lexinne,
Peter and I were so saddened to hear of Mannies passing.I, Cindy had the pleasure of working with Mannie as his research assistant from 1980-1987.Mannie was a perfect gentleman. He was a pleasure to work for and a positive role model; my mentor.Mannie was a confidence builder. He made me believe in myself and was so appreciative for the work I did. We became good friends. We would share many lunches (he always had an orange Snoopy lunch box with matching thermos) , and coffee breaks at Maritime Center, running laps in the gym or to the Golden Gates on Young Avenue as well as cross country skiing at Point Pleasant Park. On one occasion I experienced a ride in his side car; now that was fun. I'm so glad we kept in touch over the years. He will be sorely missed. Our sympathies to all of you on the loss of a wonderful person.I will always be grateful to Mannie. Love Cindy and Peter MacDonald

I came to know Manny at the Dartmouth Yacht Club in 2009 and was enriched by his zest for life and willingness to share his knowledge and experience. He was an ever-ready volunteer, always ready to do way more than his fair share...hurricane chain gang, teaching knots, lecturing on celestial navigation and much more - just sharing his gift in the best way possible. From where I sat Manny, you lived your life well. Now it's your time to RIP.

I had the pleasure of sailing with Manie on many trips to Bermuda and the BVI's. His sense of humor was such that at times you broke into laughter before Manie had finished the story. It was not the story that was hilarious it was the way Manie was telling it. For a number of us who knew and sailed with Manie the world will be a much sadder place. We have lost an excellent story teller, a trusted friend and a good sailor.

Our memories of Mannie are of a wise and gentle man, a man who cherished teaching and learning, who loved good food and good wine, and fresh air - as long as it was warm fresh air! We could see how he cherished the young children and the new babies in his life. The memories live on.
