Obituary of Frederick William Caston

Frederick  “Fred” William Caston, age 90 of Canaan, passed away on October 9, 2023, in the Veterans Unit of the Solider’s Memorial Hospital, Middelton. Born  in Minico, ON, he was the son of the late Alfred and Theodora Caston.

Fred served in the Canadian Armed Forces, serving in Korea and Germany. Later in life he worked as a brick mason until his retirement. He enjoyed music and his many visitors while in the Veterans Unit.

Fred was a member of the New Minas Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years. He loved his Lord, and would witness whenever he had a chance. He also enjoyed the hugs he would received from his “church daughter”, Edna.

Fred is remembered by his niece and nephews in Ontraio; as well as his many friends.

In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his wife, Carol; and brothers, Ronald and Raymond.

Special thanks to the nursing staff at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Veterans Unit for their great care of Fred.

A Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023,  from 12:30 - 1:30  pm followed by a Funeral Service at 1:30 pm in the Serenity Funeral Home,  Coldbrook, with a reception after the Service. Interment will follow in the Lower Horton Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Adventist Development and Relief Agency.
