I’m so sorry to have read of the passing of Hazel. I got to know her attending St. John’s Anglican. She used to sit behind me. I will miss her laughter, and kind thoughtfulness. Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of a wonderful woman. Now God will hold her in the palm of his hand.

Dear Pam
I was so sorry to here of your mom’s passing. I am away and won’t be able to attend the service today.
We had some great chats as I cleaned and spent time with her while you were away on your trip. She also loved playing canasta with us!
May all the wonderful memories of your mom help at this time of loss.
Sincerely
Jeanita Rand

Dear Pam, Jane and Family,
I was so sorry to hear that Aunt Hazel passed away. She seemed to be still having such a good go at life the last time I saw her. She was always great fun. As I told Jane I alway remember stopping in Fredricton on the way to Sussex every summer. Aunt Hazel was always so welcoming and genuinely caring of us when we were children. In later life it was great to see her on the odd occasion in the maritimes or Ontario. Again she was so welcoming and interested in Aisling, myself and the kids. Aunt Hazel had a life worth celebrating. She is a huge loss to our family. You are all in our thoughts.
Love,
Jimmy, Aisling, Dara, Aoife and Roisin (Friars)

I am sending my Condolences
Pam,Jane, Richard, Kate, Michael, Thomas and Nick
Your mother, grandmother and mother in-law who was my aunt holds a very special place in my memory. The sadness I feel at knowing she has passed is accompanied by the opposite emotion of happiness for having had the privilege of knowing such a wonderful classy person. Pragmatism and common sense accompanied by her gentle but direct style of communication has caused me on many occasions to reflect on issues I have discussed with her.
I smile so broadly when I recall one of the last times I got to spend a significant visit with aunt Hazel. It occurred several years ago when our extended family had rented a farm house in
southern Nova Scotia. Aunt Hazel was given directions from my father on how to find us. She had ventured off one AM and drove several hours following his instructions. Unfortunately she made a wrong turn up into a large farm type resort when she was close to finding us. Eventually the road she was on grew smaller and steeper and muddier. (It was a logging road). Her car slid off the road and settled into a bog with many fallen dead spruce trees. She managed to get her purse and call. The problem is she really did not know where she was and how to explain to us. She just knew she was on a remote road somewhere not far. Jamie Hanlon, Joseph and myself headed out in several vehicles trying to retrace what she recalled as the directions she followed. After half hour to 45 min Jamie and I were in a truck and the logging road we were checking got so small and muddy we stopped. I said to Jamie I will get out and walk up around the bend to check. Sure enough there was Aunt Hazels car with the back end completely off the road. She had opened the door and left the car for a nature break but was stuck up to her knees in the dead spruce trees and branches, unable to move. I ran back and got Jamie an we waded into the bog and literally lifted Aunt Hazel up onto our shoulders and carried her out. The amazing thing for an early eighty year old woman who one would expect she would be distraught in fact quite the opposite was found. She was smiling calm and quite pragmatic about her situation. We drove her to the farm and she had a lovely visit with her brother Gerry, Dorothy and family. This cool calm approach was so what I knew of my Aunt. The greatest respect and my sorrow for our loss.
