Uncle Joe was a fine airman, and a great guy. Mum remembers him as a hard-working, solid lad, always interested in things mechanical, which he put to good use in later life. Although we were almost always living far from Joe, he was, and is, always close to our hearts.

Maxine, I was so saddened to learn of Joe's passing. We spent many hours of intellectual bantering together over the years, and I always considered Joe a true friend and mentor.
