MELANSON, Bessie May - 81, Annapolis Royal passed away on Sunday July 10, 2011 Middleton. Born in Parkers Cove she was a daughter of the late Austin and Etta (Dorey) Weir. Bessie was a wonderful person, she was a friend to everyone who knew her, she would do anything for anybody. She would always leave you with a smile. She loved flowers, cats and baking. She rescued many cats and found homes for them. Bessie ran the B&W Canteen in Annapolis Royal. She also worked at the Annapolis IGA as Bakery Manager and part time at Emin?¢s Clothing Store, Annapolis Royal. She retired in the mid 90?¢s. Bessie was an avid flower gardener. Bessie will be sadly missed by nephew Dean and his wife Janice and special kitty - Mittensì³. Bessie is survived by sisters Rosella Pye, Annapolis Royal, half sister Muriel Halliday, Sydney. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Wilbur - Wimpyì³ Melanson; brother Gordon Dorey; partner Raymond Fletcher; special nephews Robert - Bobbyì³ Dorey and Raymond Melanson. Visitation will be Wednesday July 13, 2011 from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. in the Annapolis Royal United Baptist Church where funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bob Reid officiating. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Lequille. Donations in memory of Bessie may be made to the Tender Loving Care (TLC) Animal Shelter, Digby or your S.P.C.A.
