Obituary of Patrick Craig Berryman

BERRYMAN, Patrick, born March 16, 1972, quietly slipped away from us on May 4, 2010. He was one of the world?¢s fortunate people who was blessed with the affection and love of many people. Patrick worked at The Flower Cart, a sheltered workshop, in New Minas where he chopped fire kindling, sorted donated clothing and painted picnic tables and washer toss games. Patrick had many interests; a major life long passion was fire departments. He collected crests and T-shirts from fire departments around the world. Wherever family and friends travelled they would send him a crest from the local and foreign fire departments. He also took great pride in his extensive collection of model fire trucks. Patrick was a traveler who not only enjoyed visiting different countries, but spent many hours researching and reading about his next destination. Most recently he travelled with Jonathan and his special friend Sarah to London, England. His next trip was to be to New York City where he wondered if he could afford to stay at Trump Tower. Patrick loved to tell stories about the events in his life and his adventures, usually starting the conversation by saying, - It was so funny¦쳌. He also loved to hear stories about himself and his twin brother Robbie who passed away in 1974. Patrick leaves behind his brother Jamie (Suzanne, Nicholas, and Jenna), mother Heather Thompson and father Bill Berryman. There are aunts, uncles and cousins in a variety of countries who will miss him. Patrick lived at Emmaus House, with his L?¢Arche family; Tony Hope, Machelle Hubley, Sharon Lloyd, Ilara Stefaniuk-Gaudet, Florian Richter, Carolina Beltran and Sarah Roberts, where he was supported with kindness, compassion and caring. Although he loved his weekends away with family, he always wanted to be back for the activities and the many celebrations that occur in L?¢Arche. Patrick?¢s family would like to thank all the people who touched his life with love and caring, especially Ingrid Blais and Sarah Roberts, the staff at The Flower Cart and his special friends from High School. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 7, 2010 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home & Crematorium, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, from where a celebration of his life, followed by a reception, will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 2:00 PM, with Lay Chaplain Jim Norton officiating. Interment will take place at the St. John?¢s Anglican Church Cemetery, Wolfville. Donations in Patrick?¢s memory may be made to L?¢Arche Homefires, The Flower Cart, or your local fire department.
