Obituary of Kathleen Marguerite McCormack

Is it with sadden hearts, the family of Kathleen Marquerite McCormack announce the passing their mother, who passed away peacefully during the early morning hours on December 24, 2024, in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born on March 9, 1926, in Truro, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Rupert and Annie (Comeau) Barrett.

Kathleen lived independently in her own home until days prior to her passing. She was an avid reader of suspense novels and enjoyed sitting on her back deck watching the hummingbirds and chickadees. Kathleen cherished the time she spent going for long drives with her son and she enjoyed watching her favorite soap opera, The Young and The Restless

In addition to her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, Ronald “Roy” Joseph McCormack, who was the love of her life. (“Kathleen and Roy met while on a double date with her best friend, she was supposed to go out with the other man but in typical mom fashion, she had other ideas, they married on July 26, 1945, and lived in various farming communities throughout PEI and NS until Roy’s passing on December 22, 1972.”); her sons, Roy McCormack, Daniel McCormack and Brian McCormack; daughters, Brenda (Larry Smith), Delores (Murray Terris), and Sandra (Gary Bennett).

Kathleen is survived by her sons, Richard Lee McCormack of Weston, Ronald “Ron” McCormack of Greenwood, Randy McCormack of Coldbrook, and Darrell (Crystal) McCormack of Coldbrook; daughters, Carolyn (Joseph Dominey) of Coldbrook, Ellen (Raymond Comeau) of Church Point, Irene (Leonard Lohnes) of Canada Creek, Darlene (Arnold “Arnie” Brown) of Kingston, Wanda (Garnet Wentzell) of Murphy’s Cove and Karen (Scott Carter) of Coldbrook; many grandchildren, great grand children and great-great grandchildren.

“We would like to give thanks to the men and women of the VON Annapolis Valley Nursing/Homecare, the Doctors and Nurses in the Valley Regional Hospital for the care and compassion they showed our mom during her final days.”
