Obituary of Eva Blanche VanBuskirk

Eva Blanche VanBuskirk (Walsh), of Greenwich, Kings Co., NS, aged 81, passed away surrounded by family on October 16, 2024, in Kentville, NS, after a brief battle with cancer. Born Jan 19, 1943, and raised in Avonport, NS, she was the daughter of the late Brice and Leora (Schofield) Walsh.

 

Eva graduated as a Registered Nurse from the NS Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. She worked at EKM Hospital for three years then with VON from 1966 until retiring in 2003.  She then opened a business, Footsteps at Eden, providing foot care and reflexology at her home in Greenwich. Continuing her passion of caring for “soles” and “souls”, in 2007 Eva entered the three-year Lay Pastor Training Program, receiving a diploma in June 2010 and Recognized Lay Pastor designation from CABC in Oct. 2010. In 2023, after 56 years in their home on Eden Row, Roy and Eva moved to Kimbrough Court in Greenwich Heights.

 

Eva is survived by sons, Jamie, wife Crystal, and Bruce, wife Connie; grandchildren Alexander, Kaylie, and Brandon, all of Halifax; sister Maxine (Max) Blackmore, Kentville; sister-in-law, Donna Walsh, Windsor; nieces, nephews and extended family members.

 

In addition to her parents, Eva was predeceased in April this year by Roy, her loving husband of 61 years, in addition to brothers Ronald Croft, Brice Walsh, and Burton Walsh; sisters Marion Sawler and Ella Ruggles; sisters-in-law Pauline and Eveline; and brothers-in-law Lesley Miles, Eddie Sawler, and Vernon Ruggles.

 

Bruce and Jamie wish to extend heartfelt admiration to all and each who shared in Mom’s life to the end. She was truly blessed.

 

A Celebration of Life will take place 1:00 pm Saturday November 2, 2024, in the Gaspereau United Baptist Church, with Pastor Connor Kehoe officiating. Reception to follow at White Rock Hall. Interment in the Horton Cemetery, Grand Pre at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in Eva's memory may be made to Wolfville Ridge Baptist Church, VON, Valley Hospice or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
