Obituary of Emma Ardis Corkum

It is with great sadness that the family of Emma Ardis Corkum announces her passing on October 10, 2024, at Wolfville Elms, born in Arlington, NS, Emma was the daughter of the late Clarence Ward and Susan Hines.

Emma knew the meaning of a hard day’s work, not only was she a housewife but she would help her husband, Leland fish every summer, and enjoyed picking apples every fall. Emma had a big heart she would invite people in and welcome them with open arms. She was quite observant and liked watching what was going on, especially seeing what was taking place outdoors. Emma married her husband, Leland at the age of 17, and together they built a beautiful life.

Emma is survived by her daughters Shirley (Bradford) Brown, Frances (Albert) Pineo, Bonetta (David) Spencer; son David (Hope) Corkum; 10 grandchildren; sisters Bernice Kempton, and Elizabeth Diana (Ron) Deadder; brothers Donald (Sharon) Ward and William “Bill” (Donna) Ward;15 great grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren; as well as her sister-in-law, Wilma.

In addition to her parents, Emma was predeceased by her loving husband, Leland; her sister Grace Nickerson; brothers Crandall Ward, Lloyd Ward, and Lindsay Ward; sons-in-law Albert Pineo and Bradford Brown as well as her granddaughter, Leah Pineo.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Wolfville Elms wonderful staff and friends that Emma found while living there.

Cremation has already taken place. A Service will be held on Friday October 18, 2024 at 2:00pm in the Serenity Funeral Home at 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS. with a committal to follow at the Hillaton Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
