Obituary of Frederick Burton

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick “Fred” Robert Burton, Age 80 of Avonport, at home on August 7, 2024. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Mary Ann (nee Murrary), daughter Linda (Edmonton) son Robert (Cole Harbour) and brother Dale (Ontario). Also, grand children Kenneth, Sean, Katie, Ty, Ronin, Claire, and Lenny, great grand children, Keenan, Bliss, and Rebel and several nieces and nephews He was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Dorothy, brothers Jack and Laird, sister in infancy.

During Fred’s working years he was employed by Minas Basin Pulp & paper, Department of Highways and various construction jobs until his retirement. Fred had great appreciation of antique cars and attended many car shows with his wife, and family and friends. He took pride in his coin collection and enjoyed working in his garage. A favourite past time was watching and feeding the birds. Fred was an avid Toronto Blue Jays Baseball fan, rarely missing a game. He was known to make frequent trips to get his favourite Tim Horton’s tea. The family would like to thank dawn Lowe and the team at Hantsport collaborative practice for his care.

Cremation has already taken place. There will be no visitation or service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or your local S.P.C.A. A private interment will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS B4R 1B9 (902) 679-2822.
