Obituary of Mary Louise Kinsman

Mary Louise Kinsman, 81 of Aylesford, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024 in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born on February 7, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Phyllis (Selfridge) Bishop.

In her early years, Mary excelled at badminton and curling, winning several trophies. She treasured her long-time friends and had a unique sense of humor, making people laugh with her limericks, nick-names and vocal imitations. She was a professional dog groomer, and a cat lover. The last ten years, before retirement, Mary worked in dietary at the Kings Rehabilitation Centre. Music was always a big part of Mary’s life, possessing an innate ability to form a harmony line, she loved to sing.

Mary satisfied her wanderlust with trips to Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Venezuela, as well as numberous bus trips throughout the United States with seniors. Time spent with family was very important to Mary. There were many good times with family at the Lake George cottage. She gifted the family with five more precious years while on dialysis. Her fiesty personality, courage, and perseverance helped her deal with a lengthy illness.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her children, Craig Kinsman and Marla (Allister) Palmer; granddaughters, Allana, Natalie, and Laura Palmer; great-grandchildren, Kristen and Levi; and sister, Sue Bishop.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, George L. Kinsman and sister, Shirley Magner.

The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the QEll renal/dialysis clinic, Valley Regional Hospital, Emerg. Dept. and Medical “B” staff, for their compassionate care and professionalism.

A Gathering for a Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024, 2pm-5pm, in the Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, Coldbrook. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
