Obituary of Gertrude May Cook
Cook, Gertrude (Gertie) (Loomer) L.P.N, Age 98 passed away July 22, 2024, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Born August 15, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ida (Smith) Loomer, Aylesford.
Gertie was “mum” or “gram” to many people. She lived a full and dedicated life to her family, friends, church, and any in her care, touching many in her nursing career of 28 years. She loved her HUGS and always greeted you with one. She loved her sport walking, aerobics and was an avid bowler for many years.
Gertie is survived by her daughter JoAnne Stoddart, from previous marriage to the late Thomas Beattie, Berwick; son-in law Wendall Power, Sackville; grand-sons Timothy, Mark and Rene; grand daughter Angela. Sisters-in-law Gail Cook, Gladys Cook, Olive Ogilvie and Florence Zwicker as well as many nieces & nephews.
Gertie was predeceased by her loving husband Gordan Cook after 52 years of marriage. Her daughter Gayle Power was called home 2009. She was also predeceased by brothers Charlie, Evertt, Howard & a stillborn brother, sisters Lula, Laura, Florence, Maude, and Patricia, and brother-in-law Lloyd. Gertrude was the last of ten children.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 2:00pm in the Aylesford Union Cemetery. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
