Obituary of Eleanor Gloria Goodwin

It is with great sadness that the family of Eleanor Gloria (Hale) Goodwin, 80, of Kingsport announces her passing on July 12, 2024 in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born in Berwick, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Lorna (Keddy) Hale.

Eleanor will be greatly missed by her son Mark and grandsons Noah and Kyle as well as her sisters. Eleanor was an amazing woman who always made you feel special. She found her joy and happiness in the simple things of life, such as looking after her property and flower beds or just decorating the home she designed that was built by her husband, Tom, Eleanor called it “Her Little Piece of Heaven.” Eleanor’s true treasure in life were her grandsons, Noah and Kyle who she loved dearly and was so proud of. She spent her life as a homemaker, a wife, a mom and a nan. Eleanor never thought about accumulating wealth or possessions, she thought about making memories and she made a wealth of those.

Eleanor loved Christmas, from preparing the meal, getting out the special dishes and watching everyone open presents.

“When she would decorate the tree, she would hide my three favourite ornaments and then watch me scour the the tree until I found them”

Eleanor is survived by her only son, Mark; grandsons Noah and Kyle; sisters Sharon (Earl) Ryan, Valerie (Grant) Hampel and Sheila (Joe) Bembridge.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Thomas; Brothers Bradley, Ross, Trevor and Kevin as well as her sisters Lorraine and Charmaine. 

A private Celebration of Life will be held on July 18, 2024  at 11:00am in the Lakeview Cemetery. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made in Eleanors memory to the to Woodville Community Center.
