Obituary of Catherine Louise Boates
It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Catherine Louise Stillman Boates of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 25, 2024 at the age of 71.
Catherine was born in Pugwash, Nova Scotia to George and Winnifred (Smith) Stillman of Wallace Bay.
She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Bob of 50 years and daughters Alishia (Betty) Boates of Moncton, New Brunswick and Lori (Mark) Williams of Elmsdale, Nova Scotia.
Catherine was an elementary teacher for 30 years enjoying watching children learn and assisting in their growth. She enjoyed many hobbies, often not finding enough time to enjoy them all. She was an avid gardener, both inside plants and outdoor varieties. Starting new plants from a leaf or a slip held great fascination for her. There were frequently baby plants all over the house, who started life by her careful guidance. Other interests included watercolor painting, swimming, card and jewelry making, sewing, puzzles and essential oil products.
Survived by brother George (Barb) Stillman of Rothesay, sister Juanita (Terry) Dueck of Gulf Shore, Susan Stillman of Vancouver, Deborah (Joey) Lawless of Pugwash Junction.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Olive (Vic) d'Entremont, Joan (Gordie) Urquhart and brother Nelson (Diane) Stillman.
A very special thank you to Dr. Rhonda MacLean for all of her attentiveness and caring over the years, always going above and beyond. Also to Dr. Mary MacNeil, oncologist, for her guidance and support through trying times, as well as Hannah and Jessica the oncology nurses.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
