Obituary of Joyce Rosaleen Schofield
Joyce Rosaleen Schofield passed away in the Evergreen Home for Special Care on March 21, 2024 at the age of 91 years. Joyce was the last surviving member of her immediate family; born on August 18, 1932, to the late Arthur and Ethel (Spinney) Schofield from Port Williams. She has been a resident of Evergreen for several years.
Joyce was a talented baker and lovingly treated her local relatives to her homemade bread, cakes, pies, and cookies on a regular basis. Joyce was also a talented seamstress and made little dresses and figure skating outfits for her nieces. She was a long-time active member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Port Williams where she enjoyed music and sang in the choir for many years. She was also a fan of country music, with Hank Snow and Wilf Carter being her favorites. She especially enjoyed going to concerts with her sister, Vivian and brother, Basil.
Joyce is survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Vivian Peterson; and brothers, Lorne, Lloyd, Clyde, Basil, Ivan, and Reginald Schofield; as well as nephews, Michael Schofield, Gregory Schofield, Lloyd Schofield, and Barry Peterson.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Evergreen Home for Special Care for the kindness and wonderful care Joyce received during her stay there.
Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Evergreen Home for Special Care or the St. John’s Anglican Church, Port Williams.
