Obituary of Jeanne Marie Francis
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jeanne Marie Francis, 77, New Minas, announce her passing on March 25, 2024, in the Valley Regional Hospital, surrounded by family. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Dorita (MacDonald) Churney.
Nursing brought Jeanne to the Annapolis Valley, where she worked for a short period of time before pouring all her love and caring into her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend. Family was Jeanne’s greatest priority and her granddaughters, Lauren and Maren, her biggest pride. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family, always being available with unwavering support, she was a source of strength and comfort to all who knew her.
Jeanne will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Michael "Mike", New Minas; daughters, Katherine “Kathy” Trask (Jeff), Cambridge; and Paula Francis, Gaspereau; granddaughters, Lauren Trask and Maren Francis; brother, Joseph Churney (Francine), Glace Bay; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents, Jeanne was predeceased by her brother, Dannie Churney.
In respect of Jeanne’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Donations in memory of Jeanne may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
