Obituary of Gerald Seymour Knox

The family of the late Gerald “Jerry” Seymour Knox, age 86 of Harbour View Haven, formerly of Garden Lots, announces his peaceful passing on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Born in Branch LaHave, he was the son of the late Lemert and Lorena (Hyson) Knox.
Jerry worked most of his life in the Marine Department at National Sea Products. After early retirement, he worked for the South Shore Regional School Board, Bluenose Transit, and the French School Board driving school buses. He was at his all-time glory driving the school children safely to and from their destinations. He faithfully cleaned the Lunenburg Board of Trade Campground seven days per week. Jerry was a member of St. Paul’s United Church in Blue Rocks, and in his earlier years he was the President of Lunenburg Minor Hockey and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 23, Lunenburg, where he was a life-time member. Jerry also enjoyed playing Santa Claus at Christmas and caring for his beloved cat, Luke.

Jerry is remembered by his daughters, Michelle (Ted) Veinotte, Spectacle Lakes; and Tara Knox (Harold Hanhams), Lower Branch; son, Greg Knox, Germany; grandchildren, Amanda (Andrew) Turchet, Toronto; Zack Veinotte, Spectacle Lakes; Jeffrey Knox-Whynacht (Pamela Stone), Halifax; Braden Newell, Bridgewater; Zoe, Slovakia; and Lauren, Germany; sisters, Carolyn (Brian) Jackson, Ontario; and Marguerite (Loran) Jenkins, Yarmouth; brother, Warren (Marie) Knox, Yarmouth; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Janet; brothers, Lemert Jr. and Franklyn; and sister, Florence.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service by Jerry’s request. A graveside committal will be held July 13 2024 at 1:00 pm in The Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul’s United Church in Blue Rocks or the Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery.
