Obituary of Gertrude Pauline Warren

Gertrude “Pauline” Warren R.N., age 92, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by her three children. She was born in Berwick on March 4, 1932, to the late Charles and Bessie (Harvey) Herbert; and was the last surviving member of her family.

After graduating from the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing in 1953, Pauline had a 27 year nursing career, primarily in the Annapolis Valley. She married Richard “Sonny” J. Warren in 1954 and they moved to numerous homes in Nova Scotia, she settled in New Ross where she resided with her son, John.

Pauline was never one to pass up a yard sale, flea market, or antique sale or auction; she would buy and refinish her treasures, incorporating them into the household only to await an interested customer. A prolific knitter with a great entrepreneurial sprit, she sold her creations at the Halifax Brewery Market for twenty years. It gave her great pleasure to be with the public and fellow vendors, some of whom she considered close friends.

Pauline will be missed by her family and all those who knew her.

Pauline is survived by her daughters, Jane Warren (Jake MacDonald) of Wolfville, and Donna (Roger) Rand of Blomidon; son, John Warren of New Ross; three grandchildren, Nathan Rand (Shannon Dixon) of Golden, British Columbia; Jenny Rand of Port Williams; and Mitchell Rand of Blomidon; and two great-grandchildren, Judah and Briar Rand of Goldon, British Columbia.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was predeceased by her husband, Richard “Sonny” Warren; and siblings, Bill Herbert, June Herbert and Betty Best.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no service in accordance with Pauline’s wishes.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
