Obituary of Jeannine Alice Bezanson

Please share a memory of Jeannine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeannine "Jeannie" Alice Bezanson, age 80, of Fraxville.  Jeannie passed away at home on February 19, 2024. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, Jeannie was born in The Forties to the late Gordon "Jack" and Thelma "Marcella" (Gates) Keddy of The Forties Settlement.

Jeannie grew up in the New Ross area.  In addition to her love for family, painting, gardening, knitting, and fishing, she was a long-time member of The Forties Garden Club, and a Board member of The Forties Community Centre.

Jeannie and Morley Bezanson were married in 1962. They started their family in Chester Basin before moving to Fraxville in 1972.  Jeannie was always working in support of her family, helping in Morley's auto body business, wrapping meat for Hencie Hiltz, making Christmas wreathes, maintaining flower gardens, growing vegetables, and canning for themselves and local farm markets.

As much as possible her life was balanced with time to play; snowmobiling, supporting local youth groups, teaching art classes at the school, fishing in the still water behind the house, playing cards, and taking as many road trips with Anna and Marsha as she could fit in. She also loved spending time at the camp and eating burnt marshmallows and hotdogs around the camp fire.

Jeannie is survived by her husband, Morley; daughter, Linda (Tim) of Fraxville; sons, Nelson (Dot) of Amherst, and Gordon (Lisa) of Seattle; grandchildren, Melanie (Jordan) Murphy of Yarmouth, Wesley (Christine) of Amherst, Gregory of Charlottetown; and Ryder of Seattle, great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Clara; brothers, Terry (Alva), Gerald (Judy), Michael (Janet); and sisters, Anna and Marsha (Charlie) all in the New Ross area.

In addition to her parents, Jeannie was predeceased by her stillborn sister, Jacqueline; and brother-in-law, Edison.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the New Ross Fire Department first responders and Shelly and Glendon Reeves.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 2:00 pm, in The Forties Community Centre, 1787 Forties Road, New Ross.  All are welcome to attend and share memories of Jeannie. Donations in her memory may be made to The Forties Baptist Church, Victorian Order of Nurses, The New Ross Fire Department, Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home New Ross Funeral Chapel, 4935 Hwy #12, New Ross, B0J 2M0 (902-689-2961).
