Obituary of Linda Marie Lohnes
It is with great sadness that we announce that on December 26, 2023, our mother, Linda Lohnes, passed away at the age of 78 years young. Linda was a resident of Surf Lodge Nursing Home in Lockport since May 2023. Linda had lived with her husband Maxwell Lohnes for 33 years prior in Conquerall Banks.
Born in Bridgewater, Linda was the third child of the late E. Clayton Hebb and Ada (Crouse) Hebb. She grew up in Hebb’s Cross and later moved to Thompson, Manitoba, where she met and married her first husband.
Linda was spunky, sassy and always had something smart to say. Her life wasn’t always easy, but she took what she had and made the most. Her first marriage lasted 20 years and resulted in five children. Most of this time was spent in Ontario where the family moved around quite often but remained a unit through thick and thin. After leaving this marriage she moved back to her family home in Hebb's Cross. It was several years later when she met and married Max Lohnes and moved to Conquerall Bank.
Linda loved being around people. She thrived in customer service settings, so she found herself working in a couple of the local restaurants at one time or another. When an opportunity to work at the local convenience store came up, she was happy to take the job. Little did she know that she would not only get a job that she loved, but she would also find a lifelong friend in Millie.
Over time, all of Linda’s children settled in Ontario which meant she didn’t get to see them very often. Linda travelled back to Ontario on multiple trips to see her children and meet her grandchildren as they came along. When travel became difficult, she continued to keep in contact with phone calls, letters, and birthday cards each year.
Linda is survived by her five children, Monique (Larry), Jackie (Joe), Wendy, Annette, and Denis (Trish); as well as with her grandchildren, Misty, Kayleigh (Scott), Daniel (Holly), Jessica (Kailis), Natasha, Jackie-Lee (Scott), Dylan, Robyn (Katie),Cody, Sheldon, Luc, Cadence, Nikki, Hannah, and Bryce; and great-grandchildren, Mason, Ava, Colton, Hailey, Kalvin, Korbin, Harmony , Christian, Kai, Reign, Penelope, and Bronson. She is also survived by her brothers, Gerald Hebb (Rose Mary), Bridgewater; Brian Hebb (Ana), Anderson, South Carolina; and sister, Brenda Hebb of Hebb’s Cross; along with a multitude of beloved nieces and nephews across Canada and the world.
In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her husband of 31 years, Maxwell Lohnes (in May 2023); brothers, Peter of Fort McMurray, Alberta; Paul of Hebb’s Cross; and sister, Judy Kolada of Thompson, Manitoba. She was also predeceased by her previous husband Gaetan Beauparlant of Hamilton, Ontario.
The family wants to share a special thank you to those who made a difference in our mother’s life: Millie Fitzgerald – you were more than her friend. Our words cannot express the love that you showed and shared for Linda. We are forever grateful; you are forever in our hearts. David and Faye Ramey – From the day Linda moved next door you have been more than neighbours. You became part of her family and in doing so became part of our family. We can never thank you for the many times you were there to help, including the times you literally saved her life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Surf Lodge Nursing Home – She wasn’t with you very long, but you made her a part of your family and treated her with respect, love and dignity. Thank you! Lunenburg County Community Care – For years many of your staff regularly came to the house to care for Max’ needs but also took the time to get to know, care for and nurture Linda!
