I am terribly saddened to read about Shirley’s passing. I didn’t know and I am so sorry for the MacDonald to loose this very special kind and compassionate beautiful woman. Shirley was like a mother to me growing up and Inhave so many great memories of her and Owen and the family. I am so sorry I missed the celebration of her life. It is with deep sadness that I post this. I met Shirley when I was 18, she was not only my office Mom for 15 years but soon afterwards became a best friend’s mom.
Shirley would note the cab drivers hood number back in the day as Cyndi and I left for the Old Halifax all dressed up and in our fur rabbit coats looking of age. That is just one of many fond memories of Shirley. We loved, respected and feared her all at the same time. (Never touch anything on her office desk or use her phone)
The spirit world is a happier place with her beauty and laughter. My sincere condolences and love to the entire family.

Shirley was like a second mother to me growing up. We met when I was 3 and she treated me with lots of love and big hugs always. Truly a loving person.

We are so saddened to hear of Shirley's passing. She was such a bright spot in my day when I would arrive home from work and voila, there she was, sitting on the swing porch on Berlin Street, with a smile and a chat. I will treasure her stories and laugter. Deepest condolences to the family.
Dear Shirley will be sadly missed by all. Shirley was always fun to see and have a conversation with. She loved going to Florida and John and I loved seeing her and having dinners with her. It still amazes me she got a tan by staying under an umbrella. She had a wonderful sense of humour we lioved. She loved her children and her grandchildren beyond. We will miss you Shirley . ❤️
