Obituary of Sheila Winnifred Grant

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Winnifred Grant, a cherished mother, beloved grandmother, and adored great grandmother on December 22, 2023, at the age of 89. Born in Burin, Newfoundland, in 1934 to parents Archibald and Violet Kirby. She was predeceased by brothers Leonard (Lillian) and Roy (Lucy) Kirby.

Married for 62 years Sheila is survived by husband, Alfred Grant of Halifax; sons, David Grant (Catherine) of Halifax; Barry Grant (Teresa) of Middle Sackville; and Daren Grant of Halifax; daughter, Karen Beauvais (Bryan) of Middle Sackville; along with five grandchildren, Leslie, Alex, Matthew, Justin, and Stephanie; and five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Zander, Mya, Khloe, and Hailey.

Family gatherings were the heart and soul of Sheila's life. She cherished these moments, which brought her immense joy and created lasting memories. Whether it was holiday celebrations or family get-togethers, she reveled in the company of her loved ones, sharing music, laughter, and love. She worked for many years at the Chronicle Herald where she made many lifelong friends and was a long-time member of St. John’s Anglican Church.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 2187 Larry Uteck West, Halifax, on  Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow.  Family flowers only.
