Obituary of Elizabeth Joyce Buckler
Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth “Liz” Joyce Buckler, age 78 of West Dalhousie Road, passed away on December 21, 2023, in the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Middleton, Annapolis County, she was a daughter to the late Ross and Joyce (Cranny) Cole.
Liz had a great love for nature and the outdoors. She really enjoyed hunting, gardening, and especially loved fishing. Liz was a caring, loving, and funny person, who could be quite a firecracker by times. She enjoyed keeping herself busy and could often be found lending a helping hand to someone in any way she could. Over the years, her home had an open-door policy, and when her children were growing up you could often find the house full of teenagers and she loved having them around. Liz loved her family, enjoyed spending time with them, and was always up for a good laugh.
Liz leaves behind her loving husband of 35 years, Gary Buckler; her children, Holly (Eric) Hewey, Sonora; Scott (Shelley) Hewey, Melvern Square; Johnny (Darlene) Hewey, Ontario; Gary’s children, Bonnie Buckler and Matthew Buckler; grandchildren, Eric (Sophie) Hewey, Jaden Hewey, Justin Hewey, Alexis Dunn, Hailey (Martin) Sabourin, Brianna Hewey, Britney Hewey, Winter-Lynn Hewey; Gary’s grandchildren, Alexander Buckler, Madison Buckler, Irelynne Buckler, McKinnon Buckler, and Isabelle Buckler; great-grandchildren, Claire Hewey and Levi Sabourin; siblings, Donna (Joey) Sabean, Berwick; and Michael (Debbie) Cole, Wilmot; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Liz was predeceased by her first husband, Eric (John) Hewey; sister, Dale Hudson; and brother, Johnny Cole.
Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Liz’s wishes, there will be no funeral service or celebration of life. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
