To Barb, Vanessa, Cheryl, Austin and Art’s extended family?
My most sincere condolences on Art’s passing.
While I was not as diligent in keeping in touch with Art as I should have been, please know that he was very special to me. I was the benefactor of many things in Art - guidance, advocacy, support, mentoring, and above all else friendship.
He was truly one of the good guys, and I am certainly a better man for having known him and having him in my life.
May your fond memories bring you peace at this difficult time, and fill you with love and happiness moving forward.
Hugs.
Mike

Barb and Family - my heart goes out to you during this difficult time as you adjust to your great loss. I worked with Art for many years at NSGEU and as my senior saw his determination and committment to the trade union movement. I think of Art often while I am golfing since we would discuss this often at work.

I am truly saddened for the loss of my cousin.
Art and I spent many great days on the golf course literally all over the eastern seaboard as far south as Myrtle beach south Carolina.
I will miss the times spent together that culminated in laughter for hours.

My dear Barb (& family)
I came to know Art as our ERO when my union at Saint Mary's University affiliated with NSGEU. When I met Art my first thought was, "I wouldn't want to be sitting across a table from him"; then I got to know him and his gentle, supportive side.....who knew?! This bear of a man was a pussycat and had a smile that could light up any room and disarm any opposing negotiating team!!! Art was very fair and ALWAYS had the best interest of our members/our needs at the forefront during negotiations. He worked tirelessly on our behalf when dealing with negotiations, which was always a stressful time. In my opinion he was the best ERO our Union was ever assigned.
Having gotten to know you (Barb) over the years and now your grandson, Austin through our involvement with Special Olympics, I now see the similarities and why Art was the light of your life!
My thoughts and prayers are with you, I know you'll get through this but it'll be a very difficult year. I look forward to seeing you at the next years' Summer Games when we can share a laugh about Art, perhaps a toast, a much needed hug and most likely a good cry - oh, there'll be fudge too!!!
Much love my friend; I'll keep you and your family in my prayers; God bless,
Bern
xoxo

My heart is so broken with the news of Arthur's passing. He was such a kind and gentle soul. I will always treasure my many happy memories of my times with Teddy Bear when the girls were young ladies.

Dear Barb,
On behalf of myself, but also the many friends you have within Special Olympics NS we extend our condolences with love and of course hugs.
When you give to others so freely and often, as you do ... it is our hope that some of that caring, love and warmth will be returned to comfort you when needed most.
Knowing this is one of those times I want you to know your Special Olympics family has you in our hearts and prayers, and wishes you the fondest of memories and comfort of friends and family.
Words can only say so much, but we hope knowing so many people care about and appreciate you, may help a small bit.

Dad, you were the best father a daughter could ask for. You were always there for me, you always supported me, guided me and loved me with all your heart. I've never gone without and I'll Hold Your Love close for the rest of my life. I'm so grateful for the time that you've had with your grandson and the support and love you've shown him as well. We will remember your sarcasm and how you always made us laugh. We will always remember how much you did for others though you didn't accept much help for yourself and how much you've done for your community over your career life. You had a very strong work etiquette that will be passed on. I wish I had more time with you, you left too early and young in life. My memories of you will be charished and shared. Thank you for being you and love you shared with me! Love you so much.
Your daughter Cheryl
