Obituary of Helen Jean Cohoon
Helen Jean Cohoon, age 75, of Coldbrook, passed away on November 22, 2023, in Greenwich, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on November 5, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Dorothy Adams.
Helen was raised in Berwick. She attended Mack Business College where she took Bookkeeping and Secretarial. Before retiring in 1997, she and Michael owned and operated Acadia Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Ltd. for 27 years. They then built a new home and lived off the grid for the next 20 years.
Helen loved being with family and friends, especially at South River Lake. She enjoyed camping, nature, and road trips. She was active in Coldbrook Recreation, school and sporting events that her children and grandchildren were involved in. In later years, she spent time at her cabin in the woods.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Tina (Mike) Lutz, Harbourville; son, Mark Cohoon (Robin Smith), Coldbrook; dearly loved grandchildren, Nick Lutz (Autumn Phillips), Berwick; Morgan Lutz, Kentville; and Spencer Cohoon, Kentville; two great grandchildren, Lacey and Ethan Lutz sisters-in-law, Wanda Williams, Shubenacadie; and Patricia Walsh, Alberta; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was recently predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Michael, on Septemer 23, 2023; and brothers-in-law, Blair Williams and Patrick Walsh.
“We lived together in happiness, and now we rest together in peace.”
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
