Obituary of Rae McCleave
Charles Frederick “Rae” McCleave passed away peacefully in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on November 17, 2023, with his wife, June, and son, Christopher, by his side. Born in Digby, he was the son of the late Dr. John Rae and Muriel Kathleen (Snow) McCleave.
Rae enjoyed being active and social in the community, he was a member of the Digby Pines Golf Club, the Digby Curling Club, and The Valley Regional Co-op in Conway, where whe was also the Past President and Board member. For many years Rae was the owner and operator of R. McCleave Funeral Homes in Digby and Weymouth. Later he was also employed by the Western Regional Housing Authority in Digby County and Home Depot for 23 years.
Rae is survived by his wife, June; sons, Christopher and John Rae; daughter, Natalie Gidney; adopted son, Daniel; sisters, Carolyn McClafferty and Judy Crowell; twelve grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Rae was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Graham McCleave of Frederickton, New Brunswick; and step-son, Philip Greene.

The family would like to thanks Dr. Deveau, Dr. Jenson, the nurses, and all the support staff at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a Service at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, NS B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
