Obituary of Dorothy Maie Peterson

Dorothy Maie Peterson (Hiltz) , age 101, peacefully passed away on November 14, 2023 in the Grand View Manor, Berwick, with family by her side. Born on June 17, 1922 in Garland, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Florence (Dodge) Hiltz.

After marrying the love of her life Roy, Dorothy took pride in caring for her family and their home. She enjoyed spending time knitting, sewing and crocheting in her spare-time.

Dorothy is remembered by her sons, Roy (Valerie) Peterson of Aylesford; and Ronald (Joyce Marlene) Peterson of Allison, ON; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; sister, Laura Meisner of Somerset; son-in-law, Cecil Kane of Centerville; many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Nina Hiltz.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Roy Peterson; son, Donald Peterson; daughters, Rosalie Kane and Delores May (in infancy); grandson, David Hiltz; great-granddaughter, Samantha Diogo; brothers, Oran (Elsie) Hiltz, Harry (Annie) Hiltz, and Shirley (Nina) Hiltz; sister, Phyllis;  brothers-in-law, Roy “Buddy” Meisner and Carl Sanford; and sisters-in-law, Annie Hiltz and Elsie Hiltz.

A Visitation and Reception will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2023,  from 1:30pm – 2:30 pm in the Serenity Funeral Home, Coldbrook. A Funeral  Service will follow at 2:30 pm  in the Serenity Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grand View Manor, Berwick, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
