Obituary of Maria Kennie

Helena “Maria” Kennie, age 58, of Lower Wolfville, passed away on November 2, 2023, in Valley Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.

Maria had a sparkling personality, that made you feel like you knew her all your life, even if you had just met her. She was a proud grandmother to her beautiful granddaughters, Charlotte and Charley, they quickly became the center of her world.

Maria loved to sew and would spend hours in her sewing room working on various projects. When not sewing she would be found in the garden, baking her famous chocolate chip cookies, or walking on local trails such as the Dykes, Harvest Moon Trail, and the Reservoir Trail. Maria was also an animal lover, having a special place in her heart for the dogs, cats, and cattle on the farm.

Maria is survived by her husband, Stephen Kennie; children, Tanya Kennie, Michael (Kathryn) Kennie, and Michaela (Mason) Wilgosh; granddaughters, Charlotte and Charley; mother, Helena Dill; siblings, Charlene (Andy) Graves, Joanne Steadman; father-in-law, Eddie Kennie; and sister-in-law, Lynn Kennie.

Maria was predeceased by her father, Charles Dill; brother, Peter Dill; and mother-in-law, Diane Kennie.

A Graveside Service will be held on November 12, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the Lower Horton Cemetery. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Valley Hospice.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
