My cousin and I enjoyed our annual trips to Cowboy Classics and talking to Dick. He loved to talk about the things we were interested in. I still have the rare Johnny Mack Brown book I bought from him. He owned a guitar autographed by Wilf Carter. We never met his family but extend condolences.

I met Dick when he was working as an insurance adjuster when I was working with John Merriam. He had a great sense of humour and yes he could tell a story. I met him a few years ago at the Steam Mill gravesite, I believe, and he was there putting flags on a few soldiers gravesite, if I remember correctly. He will be missed. Please accept my condolences.

Where do I begin? Mom and I so very much enjoyed him. We would often run into him on our drives when we stopped for lunch in Cambridge and Berwick. We would gather around his table while he entertained us with his knowledge and wit. So very funny. It would be the highlight of Mom's day! He very thoughtfully sent Mom a couple of letters since she moved into the nursing home. We are so very sad but so very thankful for his presence while he was here. He was SO much; multi dimensional; multi layered...
Our hearts are with his gals...he talked so proudly of you both!
With love and forever memories, Angie Chase and Mom, Eleanor MacIntosh.

I was so sorry to hear of Dick's passing. He was a very kind and gentle soul, always ready to help his friends (and cats!) any way he could. He spent many years caring for the memorials of RCMP members, and did extensive research to reunite their loved ones and troopmates. Thanks so much for caring, Dick, may you rest in peace. :)

Dick was an engaging fellow. His passions for history and investigation were certainly valuable in his research and findings regarding RCMP gravesites across Canada. He was very appreciative when I rid my house of nearly 30 years of RCMP "The Quarterly" issues for his reading and investigative pleasure. He always had a smile and a story...

Wanda and Amy; I am so sorry that you lost your dad! I’ve know him since I was a little kid growing up on Lovett Rd. He was kind, caring and funny. Always had a smile for me, always asking how I was doing and how my family was. I loved talking to him; he made me laugh. Nothing fake about Dick. Lots of great memories. Hugs to you both. Glenn

Dick, was such a kind man. He was always a pleasure to run into either at work or when I was at the grocery store. He would tell me about all the cats and his police work, usually a joke or two. I will miss our chats and his laugh. Sorry for your loss!

I wish to express my deepest sympathy and condolences to Dick’s family and close friends.I have known Dick for many years and enjoyed our conversations. It is hard to realize that we were talking and joking at Wheatens in Berwick just a few days ago.He expressed his condolences to me on the lost of my sister Mary Lou Tupper. No matter how old we get we still have the desire to keep living and to enjoy our family, friends and creation.I will miss Dick very much as we enjoyed each others wit and humour. However,I do take comfort from Jesus’ words recorded for us at John chapter 5 verses 28 and 29 where he promises to bring our loved ones and others back to life.He demonstrated this as recorded at John chapter 11 when he raised his friend Lazarus back to life and others such as the only son of a widow.Revelation chapter 21 verses 3 to 5 gives us a glimpse as to what is to happen in the new order under God’s promised heavenly kingdom with Jesus as its king.Looking forward to the time Dick and I will have our chats again.Thinking of you all at this time.Blair Jess

My sincere condolences to Amy and Wanda on the the passing of your dad, and to all those that knew and loved him.
In the years that we, (Amy & I), worked together at BJ's, although I had never met your dad, I felt like I knew him from the wonderful stories that were shared. The love and admiration that accompanied each and every story, spoke to what a wonderful man he was.
His Obituary is so beautifully written. The side note to his neighbors, that their cats may finally lose some weight.............LOVE THIS!!!!
I hope that it is these beautiful stories and memories will bring you comfort in these difficult days. 84 years of life to celebrate...........how blessed you are!!! To share an adult friendship with our parents and to have them to this age is such a blessing that not everyone gets.
I hope that the beautiful memories will fill your hearts and bring a smile to your face.
Thinking of you and sending love.
Shawna xoxo
