Obituary of Allen Wade Hewey
Please share a memory of Allen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with broken hearts we share the news of the sudden loss of our beloved Allen Wade Hewey on August 4, 2023. For 59 years, he was a solid rock of gentle love and kindness in our lives and he will be greatly missed.
Born to the late Vileata (Peck) and Cecil Hewey in Greenland, Annapolis County, Allen always appreciated the simple things of life in the country. His early years were spent surrounded by family and friends on Greenland Road where he formed many cherished memories of adventures, road trips, music, ball games, and the outdoors. Allen had old country values, and loved decorating in traditional style for Christmas, planting rose bushes, gardening, and listening to old country music records while dreaming of a ‘57 robin-egg blue Chevy. Allen also enjoyed flying small helicopters, planes and drones, hunting, going to the family camp, ski-dooing, four-wheeling, and anything where he could be outside in nature. He especially loved sitting out watching the moon rise and looking at the stars.
Allen married the love of his life, Fay, 17 years ago, and they were two peas in a pod. They were never one far without the other, oftentimes rocking together on the swing on the back step gazing out to the backwoods of Victory. Allen was a good, honest, loyal, and hard-working man; and the many friends and coworkers he has made over the years will remember him for his kind and generous nature.
Allen will be lovingly missed by his wife, Fay (Wiles); his sister, Shelly (Neill Hill); his brother, Scott (Adeline) and their children Anna and Alex; and special family members, Michael, Michele, Ava, Amelia, and Aurora. Memories of Allen will also be cherished by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Bear River East Baptist Church, Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 2:00 pm, (2710 Clementsvale Road). Burial will follow in the Greenland Cemetery. Donations in Allen’s memory may be made to the Greenland Cemetery Society by calling 902-247-1900 or mailing to 604 Middlesex Road, Bear River NS B0S 1B0. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, NS B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
