I remember Art as such a cheerful and kind man. We lived across the street and he was always a great neighbour. I fondly remember an elaborate lunch he made for me and Chris: pizza as well as Mac and cheese…. only the best dads make both. I also remember him showing us around BIO when we were kids. Much love and condolences to Vi, Deanne and Chris.

We were surprised to hear about Ernie's Uncle Art's passing since we haven't been in touch for a while. We're both thinking of Vi and family at this difficult time. We'll never forget the wonderful trip we took to Nova Scotia with Anne back in 2006 and even though that was the last time we saw Art, we kept in touch fairly regularly by email. He was so smart and funny!
We send our love and condolences.

Although I had lost touch with Art since he retired from BIO, I always thought of him with great respect and regard.
I worked in with the Canadian Hydrographic Service and he was in charge of all the technicians that supported our activities. He was always always available to help with whatever challenge faced us -with a smile and a laugh as well !
A very smart, innovative and capable man
It was a pleasure knowing and working with him.
My deepest condolences to Vi and his family.
I have no doubt he will be deeply missed

Vi, this morning we were so saddened to learn of Art's passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Art was such a kind man, fun to be with and very respectful of everyone. He always enjoyed life and was an avid and expert sailer on the ocean and a master of electronics.
He spent many years in his career at Bedford Institute of Oceanography and he will be missed by all who knew him.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Arthur’s illness and of his passing. We were ‘across the street” neighbours of Art and Vi for twenty-five years. Art was the kindest and most obliging neighbour we have ever had. He was a wizard with everything electrical and as a son of the “make and break’ generation there was no aspect of home maintenance at which he was not skilled. On countless occasions Art cheerfully helped us with renovations or repairs.
Art and Vi’s children, Deanne, and Christopher, grew up and went to school with our sons, Alex, and Nick. They helped make the lower end of Gourok Ave., then at the end of the road, a village. They were supportive neighbours when times were tough. I always remember Art’s visit to our home the day that my father died in a farming accident. He took the time to sit and chat and listen. Years later when our Grandma Lomas passed away, Art and Vi were there for us. Wonderful neighbours, wonderful people.
Vi, Deanne and Christopher you are in our thoughts at this difficult time. Ous sincere condolences. Vi, we know that your deep faith will give you strength.

Rest gently Art Parsons. Art was one of my "bosses" at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography for many years. He was always in a good mood and full of good old Newfoundland personality. Let him sail on to the heavens beyond. Betty

Vi, and all Art's family, I was deeply saddened to learn of Art's passing. Being a member of the bowling and Tim's group we have shared many a chuckle and learned a great deal from Arthur over the years. I certainly admired him for his technical expertise and his sailor adventures. He faced his problem face on and l never heard him complain once. Art will be greatly missed by many. RIP my good friend.

I met Art for the first time in 1966 when I joined BIO. We were on the same PDP8 computer course. A fun loving guy but serious when he had to be. After his retirement I never had any contact except the occasional bumping into at Tims on Waverly Road . Just before the pandemic struck I happened to bump into Art while walking on Baker Drive. Apparently the apartment complex we were hoping to move into was where Art and Vi lived. We didn't end up there but after the pandemic we would bump into each other quite often walking on the Russell Lake trails and have a yarn or two.
