Obituary of Brandon John Blinn
Brandon John Blinn, age 33, of Digby, passed away on July 18, 2023, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
Brandon loved being by the ocean and always thought it was the perfect place to sit and think. When not by the ocean, he enjoyed nature, especially camping, sailing, and canoeing with his dad, John. Brandon loved playing the guitar and often learned to play songs simply by ear.
When Brandon was younger, he was involved in Cubs, Cadets, and the RCMP Stetsons and Spurts Program. He then joined the Reserves at the age of 16; this led to a career in the Canadian Armed Forces from 2007 to 2014.
After being medically discharged from the Forces, Brandon struggled in life. He fought daily to overcome his battles; he tried to live a life full of joy and anticipation in hopes of helping people around him with the same struggles. This disease brought him to places of incredible darkness and created darkness within itself. Each horrible thing he did in the name of his disease increased his pain and shame. He wanted to be an advocate for those around him who are struggling with addiction.
“The worst part about anything that’s self-destructive is that it’s so intimate. You become so close with your addictions and illnesses that leaving them behind is like killing the part of yourself that taught you how to survive” (Lacey.L.)
Brandon is remembered by his mother, Pat Blinn; father, John Lefebvre; sister, Brittany Lefebvre; son, Cohen; daughter, Lucy; aunts, Linda (Robert Ameriault), Wanda (Emile Blinn), Elaine (Sam Sampson), and Celeste; as well as several cousins.
Brandon was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, John and Gladys Blinn, Nemerise Comeau, and Roger Lefebvre; and several aunts and uncles.
“I love you always, forever. I love you bigger.” – Mom, Brittany, and Dad
