Obituary of Kenneth Francis Newcombe

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Francis Newcombe (Dad) on Saturday, June 3, 2023, with family by his side. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and had recently celebrated his 75th birthday.

Throughout his life he was a source of love, support, and strength to those around him. His memory will forever be cherished by his wife of nearly 50 years, Glenda. He will be deeply missed by his four children: Jared (Caroline), Jodi-Lyn (Donnie), Troy (Jean), and Glendette. His presence in their lives was a source of guidance and encouragement, and he instilled in them the values of hard work, compassion and resilience that will live on for generations to come.

Ken also leaves behind a legacy of love and joy in the hearts of- his grandchildren: Matthew, Logan, Brandon, Jillian, Kaitlyn, Anna, and grand-puppy Izzy who brought immeasurable happiness to his life.  He loved being a grandfather, and always had time to share stories, give hugs, or tease them to tears.

His pets meant so much to him, and he will be greatly missed by his fur-baby Sophie. His many dogs brought him joy and companionship over the years and to him, they were more than just pets; they were his babies.

His siblings Vic (Barb), Thelma (Tom), and Lillian will miss their brother dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Leona Newcombe; and brother, Garfield.

He had a great work ethic; most of his career he was employed at the cities of Dartmouth and Halifax, which led to his work at Halifax Water until his retirement. He was never able to sit still and stayed active golfing, and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone - whether friend, neighbours, or strangers in need.

Ken most recently resided at Evergreen Home for Special Care, and the thoughtful care provided by everyone who works there was greatly appreciated by Ken's family. Staff there will surely miss Ken's flirty smiles.

At Ken's request, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of NS or Kings Co. SPCA.

"Perhaps they are not stars in the sky but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy."

Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
