Obituary of Leona Willeana Sheffield
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Leona Willeana Sheffield, age 72, of Canning, on March 10, 2023, in the Valley Regional Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Helen (Meisner) Butler, of Kentville.
Leona’s family was of utmost importance to her and it was evident in the fact that her daughters, mother-in-law, niece’s and brothers-in-law stayed by her side during her final hours. As well, her husband’s mother, Betty Sheffield, and siblings Blair (Wanda), Blaine (Janice), and Sheila (David) became a huge part of Leona’s life and took great care of her after his death in 2020.
Leona will be missed by her daughters, Lisa (Jim) Floyd, Nanaimo BC; and Tracy Sheffield, Kentville; grandchildren, Brittney (Max), Kurtis, and Benjamin Burns; and great-granddaughters, Sage, Scarlett, and Hayden Whitcomb.
In addition to her parents, Leona was predeceased by her husband of 52-years, Murray Sheffield; brother, Gary (Wanda); and sister, Joan.
The family wish to thank all of the care team in the Emergency Department at the Valley Regional Hospital for their compassion at such a difficult time.
In following Leona’s wishes, she has been cremated, and her ashes, along with her husband Murray’s ashes, will be interred at a small family gathering at a later date. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
