Obituary of Charles Maurice Naugler

Charles Maurice Naugler, 94, of New Ross, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2023 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by his family. Born on February 4, 1929, he was the son of the late George Burton Naugler and Alice Hazel (Lenihan) Naugler, of New Ross.

Charles Maurice was a member of Christ Anglican Church in New Ross and a volunteer member of the New Ross Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a Store Manager, Meat Cutter, and Christmas Tree Farmer for many years in New Ross. In his earlier years, Charles Maurice worked at the HMC Dockyard as a pipe-fitter’s apprentice; and on various tobacco farms in Ontario.

Charles Maurice was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fly-fishing, hunting and camping! He also delighted in performing, singing and playing country music, in and around the New Ross area with all generations of his family! He was often found playing cards, whether at home or elsewhere, with friends and family!

Charles Maurice is survived by his sons, Robert (Arlene), Halifax; Rickey (Natasha), New Ross; daughter, Belinda, New Ross; grandchildren, Dexter, Tonia (Devon), Cheyenne (Daniel), Kirklen, Keaton, Kalan, Rachel (Nathan); great-grandchildren, Bryson and Deacon; brother, Billy; sister, Mary; all of New Ross.

In addition to his parents, Charles Maurice was predeceased by his wife and life-long partner, Constance Madeline “Connie” (Phillips) Naugler; brothers, Harvey and George; sisters, Doris, Madeline, Marge, Frances Jean, Joyce, Della, Patsy, Faye “Fanny”, Annie “Ella”, and Barbara Muriel (in infancy).

A special thank you to the doctors, nursing Staff, and all those who cared for Charles Maurice during his extended stay in the Valley Regional Hospital!

At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., in the Christ Anglican Church, New Ross. Interment will follow in the Christ Anglican Church Cemetery.  A reception will be held after the interment in the Forties Community Centre, 1787 Forties Road, New Ross. Family flowers only.
