Obituary of Wayne Tooke

Alfred “Wayne” Tooke, age 76, of Mt. Uniacke, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2023, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. He was born in Halifax to the late Leo Alfred and Laura May (MacDonald) Tooke.

Wayne spent three years in the Canadian Guard, which included a three month peacekeeping mission in Cyprus. After leaving the Canadian Guard he worked more than 30-years with the Halifax Water Commission from which he retired to enjoy life.  With his loving wife, Dorothy at his side, Wayne loved to travel and visit new places; together they drove lots of miles in one direction or another.

Wayne will be remembered by wife, Dorothy (Farnell); sons, Wayne (Sherry Payne), Tony, Jamie (Deb Wiley), and Kevin (Holly Smith); grandchildren, Joseph, Nicholas, Emily, Thomas, Chanse, Sydni, Brennan, Amelia; great-grand children, Bryson and Evelyn; sister, Linda (Calef Heininger); brother, Robert (Susan Webster).

In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his sisters, Laura “Pat” (Peverill), Sharon (Cranidge), and Pamela (Davis); and grandson, Wayne Allen Mitchell.

A Memorial Service will be held on March 11, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Ardoise Community Centre (7595 Highway 1, Ellershouse), with reception to follow. Family Flowers only.
