Obituary of James Logan Trask

James “Jim” Logan Trask, age 88, of Cambridge, Kings County, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Born in Wolfville, he was the son of the late Sydney and M. Yetive (Herbert) Trask.
Jim began his full-time well drilling career in 1952 with his father in the family well drilling business, S. G. Trask and Sons Ltd. He continued this career for 67-years , until the age of 85. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He spent many hours with the “boys” and enjoyed every second.
Jim was very active in the firearm collecting community in the Maritimes and was known by many as “Mr. Savage”. His other main interest, was his involvement in the Masonic Order, becoming a Master Mason in Berwick in 1978 at Valley 90. He also served in multiple Masonic bodies including Nova Scotia Grand Lodge and the Shriners.
Jim is surived by his children, Valerie (Patrick) Trask and Jeff (Kathy) Trask, both of Cambridge; step-children, Nancy (Doug) Comeau, Berwick; Crystal (John) Hiltz, Halifax; and Carlton Hurlburt, Halfax; grandchildren, Vance, Jamie “Fred”, Jonathan, Chelsie, and Lauren; great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann MacDougall, Mabou; Diane Marsters, Kentville; and Deborah Trask-Cushing, Gilberts Cove; and several nieces and nephews.
Inaddition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his loving wife of 56-years, Marjorie “Marge” (Gaudet) Trask; brothers, David “Dave”, Aylesford; and William “Bill”, Cambridge; sisters, Patricia “Pat” Webster, Cambridge; Sarah “Beth” Mather, Ottawa, ON; Linda Misir, of Windsor, ON; Mary -Ellen Trask, Bridgetown.
Known for his witt and generosity, Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew him and listened to his many stories.
Cremation has taken place. As per Jim’s request, there will be no Visitation or Funeral Service. Interment will take place at a later date in the Cambridge Cemetery, Family Only. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Shriners. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
