I was deeply saddened to learn of Aunt Merna's recent passing and would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends during this time of loss.
The happy memories I have of Merna (and the Kelley family) are many and varied; her endearing personality was so entrancing that I recall having met her for the first time at Greenwood, Nova Scotia, way back in the early 1960s. In all the years that I have known her, spanning from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Alberta right up to my last meeting with her (and Bruce) here in Toronto in the summer of 2016, Merna's captivating personality never changed. I treasured every conversation I had the good fortune to have with her over the years. She will most certainly be profoundly missed by many people, and I would like to say a special hello to Bonny, Brenda, Bruce, Myrna and Cathy as well as to the extended family. A special Thank You to Cathy for your loving care of Merna; Very Much Appreciated. In closing I would like to add that I can't imagine a photo that would capture Aunt Merna's personality as well as the one you have chosen does. Love & Best Wishes, Victor.

So sorry to read of Merna’s passing. I got to spend a little time with her when she would visit my grandfather, Ches. She was always interested in how my kids were doing in school and what they were up to. Such a sweet lady.
Our condolences to her loved ones.

Condolences to Merna's family. She was my father's cousin and they would often have talks when she was in the Windsor area. The last time we spoke she was visiting uncle Alvah in Falmouth. Lots of smiles and laughter that day.

I am so thankful I got to visit Nanny while she was in Pallative Care. She was as sharp as ever and we were able to have a nice conversation, although i knew it would be the last. Nanny loved her family dearly and she was always so kind and generous to those she loved. I have many great memories of visiting her in PEl. Nanny always had the best meals cooked and always had so many options for dessert. When she moved to New Glasgow I was able to see her a lot more and I'm so thankful for our visits and time together we shared. Rest in peace Nanny, I love you.

Barry and I spent some quality time with mom over the years. We had a great trip to the Magdelene Islands a few years ago.she was a great traveler and loved to see new places. Binky, our beloved dog rode in the back seat with her. She loved animals. They were good travelling companions. She often visited us over the years wherever we were transferred. Saint John, Miramichi , Fredericton, Halifax and New Glasgow
She eventually came to live here near Barry and I in New Glasgow. She was a determined woman. There was nothing she could not do and she was independent in all facets of her life. That was a quality that I admired. She was easy to care for in her final days. We played music, Rita MacNeil, Men of the Deeps and of course lots of fiddle music. We reminisced about the many musical performances she attended at the DeCoste Center in Pictou. She loved music. She spoke about her grandchildren and great grandchildren with so much love and laughed at their antics. Mom did have a great sense of humor. She loved to laugh. She knew when it was time. She looked at me and said" Cathy, I'm going. I'm going now. I said o.k. mom you go on ahead."

We didn't have the pleasure of meeting cousin Merna until later in life when she moved to Windsor N.S.. Since then we have had many interesting meetings, family stories and phone calls. She was the " go to " person to find out information about genealogy and community events of the past and present.
We will miss her very much. A most interesting person!
Our sincere condolence to her immediate family.
In remembrance and friendship,
Marg. and Charlie Knowles,
Falmouth, N.S.

So sorry to hear of Merna passing, but sure she was greeted by her loved ones.
I remember letting her in All Saints Church for a visit and we chatted about what it was like when she lived in Leminster.
