Obituary of Leodia Ivalo Broome

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Leodia Ivalo Broome, 91, of New Russell, announces her passing on January 21, 2023, at Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) in Kentville.  Daughter of the late Harry and Lena (Lantz) Redden, Leodia loved and cared for her family above all else. 

Empathetic, compassionate, and with a quirky sense of humour, Leodia will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was a talented cook, award-winning quilter, and expert gardener who especially enjoyed the outdoors.  Indoors, her faithful cat, Felix, kept her company, and she took great pride in her massive collection of teapots. 

Leodia is survived by her sons, Reid (Carolann) and Cameron (Char McLellan); her daughter, Michele (Byard Hiltz); and grandchildren, Neal, Matthias, Samuel, Thomas and Anastasia. 

In addition to her parents, Leodia was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; brothers, Seaman, Orville, and Sanford; sisters, Anna and Roxy. 

A heartfelt thank-you is extended to the medical teams at VRH for their kind and diligent care during Leodia’s last six weeks.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Leodia’s remarkable life will take place on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at the Serenity Funeral Chapel in New Ross, Visitation at 1:00 pm and Service at 2:00 pm, interment will follow at a later date in the New Ross Baptist Cemetery.
