Obituary of James Adrian Fortune
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Once again our world has been shattered.
James “Adrian” Fortune, 58 of New Minas, passed away unexpectedly on December 15, 2022 at home. Adrian's story began in New Waterford, where he was born the son of Mary (McKinnon) and Joseph Myles Fortune.
If you knew Adrian then you know his world revolved around his special companion, his pup Lillian a.k.a. “Lily”. Lily gave Adrian such happiness and joy, she now has a new pack and is thriving with Aunty Shauna and Uncle Andy.
Adrian lived for quality time with his siblings, especially playing chauffer on many road trips that had no destination in mind; but were always good for laughs, We always had so much fun together and were not just siblings but the best of friends.
Adrian was a proud Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, having joined in 1981. Adrian was honoured to serve Canada in both Bosnia and Afghanistan with distinction. Freedom isn't free! Adrian always believed this to be true, and this was a foundation of his character. Adrian retired with the rank of Sergeant from the Canadian Forces with honor, having served for three decades. To quote an army brother and good friend "your watch is over it is time to rest". After his retirement from the Canadian Forces, Adrian enjoyed a new role as a buisness system support anaylist with Nova Scotia Power.
We can't express how much we're going to miss you little brother but we know you have front row seats to every game of your beloved Maple Leafs.
Adrian will be greatly missed by his sisters, Mary Fortune Misner and Judy Fortune Myer both of Kentville; brother, James MacLellan of Sudbury, ON; Step-daughters, Tanya Lemoine of Truro, and Jennifer Lemoine of New Waterford; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Adrian was predeceased by sister, C. Marie Wilson of Kentville; nephews, James and Cordell MacLellan; as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
