Obituary of Lynnie Kathleen Arenburg

Please share a memory of Lynnie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lynnie Kathleen Arenburg, 100 of Farmington, passed away quietly on December 13, 2022 in the Rosedale Home for Special Care. Born November 25, 1922, she was daughter of the late Russell and Laura (Sperry) Morton.

Although Lynnie had no biological children, she was a second “Mom” to her nieces and nephews and “Nan-Nan”  to her great and great-great nieces and nephews. In the earlier years of her marriage, she and husband Raymond were the gate keepers for the Bowater Mersey Company in Rossignol and later in the 1960s the gate keepers in East River. Lynnie was an avid card player  and often workers from the nearby mill camp in East River would arrive in the evening to have a few games of Auction 45’s or Cribbage.

Lynnie was an exceptional cook and baker, her molasses cookies and cinnamon rolls could not be duplicated. All were welcomed in her home and anyone who sat at her table for a meal never went away hungry. When she packed school lunches for her nieces and nephews, there was always extra cookies packed to share.

The last 10-years Lynnie was a resident at the Rosedale Home for Special Care where she enjoyed  doing the Lexicon puzzles, playing bingo, and doing crossword puzzles. Her uncomplainng, quiet, and easy-going nature made her a favourite among all the staff. We can never adequately thank the staff at Rosedale for the tender loving care she received.

Lynnie is survived by nephews, David (Terre) Haines, Farmington; Harold Haines, Digby; Mark (Tanya) Haines, Cold Lake, AB; Wayne (Joan) Morton, Kentville; John Morton, Halifax; nieces, Linda (Blaine) Moffatt, Farmington and Nadine (Wesley) Eisener, Kingston; and serveral great and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lynnie is predeceased by husband, Raymond; sister, Enid (Durward Haines); and brother, Donald.

As per Lynnie’s reqeust, cremation has taken place and there will be no Service.
