Steve and I were best friends as teenagers. We spent our summers and some holidays hanging out in Greenfield on Ponoque Lake and riding on the back of his motorcycles. First the Vespa Pink Panther which he drove on the cottage roads and then his beloved 650 Triumph. Even as a teenager Steve was plagued with bouts of depression. He was also funny, kind, extremely artistic and had a beautiful smile.
I lost contact with Steve over 45 years ago but had been thinking of him lately as we shared the same birth date and were turning 75 this year. I thought that it would be fun to track him down to send him a card on his birthday.
Yesterday I checked online to see if I could find Steve and was saddened to find his obituary. He will be missed.
Sincere condolences to his family.

My condolences to you Sherry, your sons Merlin and Liam and Steve's siblings Deb, Elizabeth and Rolfe. Steve was a wonderful person: kind, intuitive, friendly and intelligent. Even with all that, depression made life difficult for him, but he could and did reach out from that cloud and help others. Our friendship went back to school days and even when he could not reciprocate, one knew he was still there and cared. He of all people, did not deserve to be locked within his body as he was for his last year. Despite that he could find and give joy to others. I was so pleased to be able to spend some time with him during my late summer visits, to share some stories and a few laughs. I hope it made him feel as good as it made me, hard as it was to say good bye. RIP my dear friend and may you Sherry and his boys and siblings be lifted by his will and your memories. All the best to you all. Love, Donnie

Spent many a late night speaking with Steve as he was fixing an xray machine in one of many hospital he would visit. Stephen would make sure that we (Security) would not sneak up on him and he truly was a great conversationalist. My sincere condolences at this time.

I'm so sorry for your loss Sherry and family. Despite the great trials he endured in 2021 into 2022, he maintained a lovely soul, attitude and an ever-present sense of humour.
Take care,

Steve was such a gentle man with a soft voice and always had a smile when he saw you . He was a lifesaver when one of our X-ray machines went down . He would sometimes work all night to repair it . Although it was a bit scary when you would look in the room and see he had every nut and bolt out on the floor ,he always completed his job with everything back in place . Since my retirement , I have missed our little chats .

I was so very sorry to hear this news of Stephen. He was the “cool” brother of my childhood best friend, Debbie and we all loved being around him. He was never too busy to answer all our questions as he tinkered with his motorcycle! He was one of those people who you just wanted to listen to or chat with. I am sure that many people will miss him and are feeling a deep loss. To all of you who knew and loved Stephen please accept my deepest condolences.

Sincere condolences to Stephen's loving family. No one who knew or met Steve could fail to love his gentle and reserved nature, full with compassion for all and sharp regret at the state of the world. We grew up as family friends and neighbours. I have many fond memories of our occasional one on one conversations, one in particular walking past the Public Gardens toward the Dal campus in our early 20's, taking opposite sides on the appropriate stance to the idea and potentiality of God, agreeing only on the importance and value of the question. I know how Steve will be missed by his loved ones and share their grief at his passing.

I met Steve through work, he repaired the equipment when it went down. I secretly loved it when the equipment broke as it meant Steve would be by. I loved talking with him, he knew so much and he always made me laugh. He loved to talk about Liam, he was very proud of him, and through our many conversations about family we realized I went to high school with Merlin.
Steve will always have a special place in my heart.
My deepest condolences to his family. He was one of a kind.
