Peters family posted a condolence
Sunday, August 28, 2022
My family met Craig 30 years ago at the IWK when my 3 year old son Mark Peters from PEI was critically ill. During our 4 month hospital stay Craig quickly became a friend that we enjoyed seeing everyday. His calming personality gave us a sense of ease in a very difficult time. Shortly after returning home to PEI my son needed to be airlifted back to the IWK and when I seen Craig coming off that plane I couldn’t tell you the sense of relief I had. Craig was so caring about his patients and on a vacation trip to PEI with his wife he stopped by to say hello. If he heard Mark was at the IWK he would pop by to say hello and tease him. My family has not seen Craig in over 25 years but today I was cleaning out old papers when I came across a book containing IWK contacts. I thought it would be fun to look up some of these people and I especially thought of Craig and how he would be happy to hear my son was now married with two children. I was so saddened to see that he passed just last month. Craig was a happy memory among many sad ones at the IWK and he really touched our hearts with his kindness. Please accept our deepest sympathy! I’m sure his memory lives on in many of his patients!

There are no words to express how very sorry I am to learn of Craig’s passing. I knew Craig from the first day he started at IWK. He was a loyal team member and so good at what he did whether in the hospital or with EHS LIfeFlight. Craig was well known for his ability to deliver a sarcastic and funny comment without changing his facial expression. For me I will always remember that when I was leaving the IWK in 2011 and walked into the RT Dept the final weekend, Craig was there by himself and took one look at me and expressed how sorry he was for me leaving. I teared up and he immediately reached out to give me a hug which meant so much. It is just the kind of caring man he was. You will be missed Craig by so many. I am glad to have known you. Rest easy my friend.

Blessings and condolences to you all. Craig was a wonderful person. He always made everyone smile and made the work much more fun. We had a great travel adventure in Thailand with others. Craig managed too sneak some contraband halloween masks back to Saudi with him. The next night shift was one to remember!! A genuine compassionate soul.

Craig lived in Riverview for several years before moving to Halifax. We were very good friends from 1975 to 1981. Even though we have not seen each other in years, Craig's wit and dry sense of humor will never be forgotten. He and I, once we had a few pops, would sing Alice Cooper songs together. We had a blast. RIP my good friend.

I was sad to hear of Craig’s passing. We were close friends during high school and shared many experiences growing up in Riverview and later in Halifax. He had a great sense of humour and was a good friend over the years. He liked nothing more than conversation, music and a good beer. We fell out of touch after university but you never forget the people you grew up with - they stay with you forever. As Prince said in a song “those kind of cars don’t pass you everyday”. Condolences to family and friends. Craig will be missed.

Dear Sherrill, Kenny and Sam, I am absolutely saddened to my core at the loss of Craig. I had the honour of working with him as a IWK/Lifeflight RN. Whenever I was worried, he could tell, no matter how hard I tried to fain confidence, he would calmly say to me, “I’ll make the air go in and out and you make the blood go around and around, simple as that!” It always made me laugh and feel better. He was an amazing person and I will miss him a lot!

Dear Sherrill,
I am so sorry for the loss of your soul mate. The first time I met Craig, I was so impressed with his knowledge of the Middle East, only to find out that he had lived and worked there! What a courageous thing to do. When Liz told me about how Craig approached the end of his life, all I could think about was how courageous he must have been to prepare for the end the way he did. She assured me, that yes, Craig did indeed party and make jokes up until the end. I think his decision also showed how much he loved his family, especially you. I am glad you found each other and knew that depth of love.
I look forward to seeing you again and attempting to make you laugh. When I do, it probably won’t even be intentional.
Much love, Hannah (and Jordan—guys weekends are a love of his, too)

My condolences to all Craig’s family and friends. I always admired the love he showed for his little sister and remember the toast he gave her at her wedding like it was yesterday. Craig was generous with his time - he visited me whilst I was in the hospital in Halifax only knowing that I was a good friend of his sisters. Rest well Craig♥️ God Bless.

I was heartbroken to hear of Craig’s passing, and I send my heartfelt condolences to his wife Sherrill, and his sons, and family. I worked with Craig at the IWK and LifeFlight, as one of the obstetrics RN’s. I loved flying with him. We retired the same year. He was always there for me, and our team, and could make any situation less stressful, with his hilarious comments. His sense of humour always helped to make our high risk mothers more relaxed, in often very difficult situations. I will miss him. ❤️

So saddened to hear of Craig's passing. He was a wonderful colleague and team mate, whether in the neonatal intensive care unit chatting while setting up for a new admission or caring for a sick newborn together. His voice was always one of calm and common sense when on the other end of the Life Flight call. I always felt confident when he was the "eyes" and "ears" for the respiratory care at a distant site- I knew the the baby was in good hands. His wacky sense of humor made many difficult nights better, he will be missed.
