Did you ever have someone in your life that the thought of just made you smile? For me one of those people was my cousin Carol. I called her Granny Duck. I'm not sure why I called her that but she got the name from my childhood. My brother and I spent alot of our time with our Bennett cousins as children and I cherish even the sparse memories that I have with them. Did I see her often? No. Spend much time with her as an adult? No but when I did see her I knew she loved me and I loved her.
She passed away suddenly yesterday and I am just sad. The world has lost a lady who was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend.
Carol loved children and she spent her life educating them. Any child who had her as their teacher felt like they were loved in her care. Seeing her read a child a book was a gift to watch. I'm sure there are many of her students who still reach out to her as adults.
Because of the restrictions I probably won't be able to attend the service to celebrate her in person but I wanted anyone that I know that an amazing light burned out yesterday here on earth but I'm sure Carol is reading to children as we speak that are in heaven. Along with her family they were all there to greet her and she went to heaven holding their hands.
I'll miss you Granny Duck. Rest easy sweet lady and I'll see again someday. xoxo
