Obituary of Frank Gordon Burford

Frank Gordon Burford, 77, passed away Monday, August 2, 2021 at Melville Lodge Long Term Care.  Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Frank and Irene (Hartling) Burford.

He was predeceased by both parents and a sister, Nancy Winnifred, in infancy.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Marilyn (neé Pittman); daughter Jennifer Smith (Adam); son Gregory (Rachel); grandchildren Gavin and Elsie Smith; and Duncan Burford.

He spent his career working as a product inspector for Agriculture Canada, now the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, retiring in 1997. Felled by a stroke in 2005, prior to that he led a very active life, biking, swimming, working out at the gym and taking his two beloved Doberman Pinschers, Hannah and Harley for long walks.

Cremation has taken place.  At a later date there will be a private committal of his ashes, along with those of Hannah, his heart dog, to the waters of Spanish Ship Bay, Guysborough County, where he spent many happy hours as a child.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
