Dave was the Director of Cadets at CMR when I first met him and his lovely wife, Ester. Dave wrote and Ester gave the toast to the bride at Dani and my wedding in 1976 and I got the honour to server under him as a Naval Officer on HMCS Skeena in 1977. The picture below was from one of our Caribbean exercises where we played Croquet in Mayport Florida at the Admiral's garden party. I learned a lot from Dave and his passion for the sea. I will remember him as a friend, forever. While we have not kept up, due to careers and locations,, I have thought of him often. Rest in peace, Sir.

Dearest Esther. So sad to hear of Dave’s passing. We go back so far; including your wedding in 1969. My one regret is that we lost contact over the years and did not manage to meet during our two past visits to Halifax. I learned so much from him and for this I will be always grateful. Steve

Very saddening to see the passing of an old mate. I knew David as a greatly talented, professionally capable naval officer who approached life with sincerity and humour. Sue and I have very fond memories of the times we shared together. We send our condolences to you Esther and and all his family.

I extend my sincere condolences to the Pollard family. In 1976 I served on HMCS Skeena as the Engineer Officer and thus had the pleasure of serving under Cdr R. Pollard who joined Skeena as its Commanding Officer in May 1976.
Cdr Pollard was a very caring and friendly person who was always in good spirits and full of humor. I shall always recall the trip Skeena did to Montreal during the 1976 Summer Olympic games. What fun we did have!
It's with great sadness that I heard of Cdr R. Pollard passing away. To me, he will remain in my memory as a fine officer and a true gentleman. I wish him eternal Fairwinds!
