Obituary of Thomas Bryan Briggs

“He that dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” – Ps. 91:1

Thomas “Tom” Bryan Briggs, 74 of Lockhartville, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2020 in his home with his loving family by his side.  Born in Winnipeg, MB, Tom was the son of the late Thomas Albert and Lillian May (Briscoe) Briggs.

Tom worked at the VG and NS Hospitals before settling into a career, for several years, with CKF before he retired. He also worked as a bookkeeper. Although small in stature, he was larger than life, and quick on wit.  Tom was an avid book and puzzle fan, enjoyed singing, playing instruments and treasured the time he took to travel.

Tom’s greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren!

Tom is survived by his loving wife of almost 53 years, Audrey (Sisco) Briggs; daughter Darlene (Mike) Rochester; grandchildren Brittany and Timothy Rochester; sisters Ruth (Uriah) Covill and Bonnie (Doug) Birdwell; aunts Dulcie Scott, Cece (Ron) Bough, Maureen (Jim) Turner, brothers-in-law Harold Sisco, Fred Sisco, Gerald (Sharon) Sisco; sisters-in-law Aileen Johnston; Alice (Pat) Caffatos, Ann Safire, Dorothy Brown, Sharon (Rheal) Rivest and Pauline Kyle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, Tom was predeceased by his granddaughter Haley; aunts, uncles and brothers/sisters-in-law.

Special thanks to son-in-law Mike, sisters-in-law Dorothy and Aileen for being available to help in Tom’s care.  Also, to the outstanding EHS team, who helped to carry us through the final difficult weeks of Tom’s life.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 1:00 pm in the Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church, 5398 Chester Rd, Windsor. Memorial donations may be made in Tom’s memory to the Valley Hospice Foundation, 15 Chipman Dr., Kentville, NS, B4N 3V7.   Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
